A Day at the Arcade
The Arcade Can Be a Great Place for the Entire Family
So you and the family are looking to get away for a few hours and you’re not sure where to go? Let me ask you something. When’s the last time you were at an arcade? An arcade can be a great place to take the entire family for an afternoon of fun. But if it’s been a while since you’ve been to an arcade, you might be surprised at what you see. The arcades of today are nothing like the arcades of yesteryear. Here’s some idea of what you might find.
DDR
Nowadays, any good arcade has a DDR station. DDR stands for dance dance revolution. DDR is a music video game that’s played on a dance pad. The player moves his or her feet on the dance pad in accordance with the game. When the player makes the correct steps, the life bar is filled. If the player missteps the life bar is drained. If the player drains the life bar completely before the song is over, they lose.
Virtual Reality
Virtual reality games are hot when it comes to arcade games. During virtual reality game play, the player usually wears a helmet that puts them right where the action is. You feel as though you’re really moving through the game, rather than just playing it on a screen. It’s definitely a welcome change from the old-fashioned video games.
Laser Tag
Depending on what arcade you visit, you may even be able to play laser tag. When you play laser tag at the arcade, you go into a special room and are given a laser gun. The idea is to hit others while not getting hit. It’s a great way to get some exercise while visiting the arcade.
A Blast from the Past
If you’re worried that the arcade will be nothing like you remember when you and your family arrive, don’t sweat it. There are still some tried and true favorites to be found at the majority of arcades. Ski ball and air hockey can be found at the majority of arcades and some arcades are even featuring retro games like Pac Man and Frogger.
