Bicycles Aren’t Just For Kids
It’s Time For Adults to Get Back on the Bicycles
When my wife thinks of bicycles, she thinks of little kids having fun, teenagers who aren’t old enough to drive and adults who do it professionally like Lance Armstrong. Well, this summer I set out to change all that. Bicycles can be fun for everyone and if you haven’t been on a bike since you were twelve, it’s time to get back on.
The Benefits of Bicycles
Bicycles offer adults numerous benefits. You can ride them to relax, to get exercise, to get from point A to point B while saving gas, and much, much more. Whether you need to take a one-mile trip to the store or you want to get some great cardiovascular exercise, bicycles are a great way of fulfilling those needs.
Banana What?
If the last bike you rode on had one of those horrid banana seats, you’re in for some modern shock when you start shopping for a bicycle. Ask a bicycle salesman where the banana seats are nowadays and he’ll look at you like you grew another head. Along with everything else, bicycles have become more advanced and offer more features and functions than the bicycles of yesteryear.
What to Buy
Which bike you should buy depends on your particular needs. There are many different types of bikes available including trail/light-duty mountain bikes, comfort bikes, mountain bikes, touring bikes, cruisers, tandem, freestyle and hybrid bikes. Do research on the Web or talk to a bicycle salesman to determine which type of bicycle would be best for you.
Where to Ride
Here’s the fun part – bicycles can be ridden pretty much anywhere. I have a private lake and beach near my house that has a bike path winding all the way around it. It’s an absolutely stunning place to bike ride when the weather is nice. See what bike trails there are around you and explore each and every one of them. Not only will you get to take in great sites, you’ll get in shape in the process.
