Family Ice Skating Lessons
Family Ice Skating Lessons Combine Exercise, Fun, and Family Bonding
If you’re looking for a fun family activity, see if family ice skating lessons are available in your area. My wife and I are taking lessons with my two sons and my daughter and while I was not exactly enthused about the idea at first, it’s turning out to be an excellent experience.
Off To A Rough Start
Okay, I will admit it – I thought ice skating was for sissies (not counting the rough and tumble skating that goes with hockey). However, after my first day on the ice, I will never say that again. My legs hurt almost as bad as my rear end (which I fell down on more than once) and my ankle and wrist were a little bruised from one particularly nasty fall. Of course, my six-year-old only fell twice and my wife and my ten-year-old didn’t fall once. The only one who fell nearly as much as I did was my four-year-old daughter. After that first family ice skating lesson, I wasn’t sure I wanted to go back.
Things Get Better
After one or two lessons, we all found our feet and falling wasn’t an issue (except for the four-year-old every now and then). It was about then that I started having fun, and after I started having fun I started to realize what great exercise ice skating can be. In the beginning I would be winded after a lesson and my legs would be a little sore. However, my endurance has improved drastically and my legs no longer ache and burn after our lessons.
Do Your Family A Favor
So here’s the bottom line -- if you want to partake in an excellent family activity, family ice skating lessons are perfect. You’ll cry (at first), you’ll laugh, you’ll get in shape and you’ll grow closer together.
