Jigsaw Puzzles are Fun and Fantastic
Putting together jigsaw puzzles can be fun, but many people never set aside time to do so. Think about it, when was the last time you sat down and completed a jigsaw puzzle? Believe it or not, this fun childhood activity can be just as thrilling as an adult.
Who Doesn’t Love Jigsaw Puzzles?
Jigsaw puzzles are a timeless activity, and all you need are a few puzzle kits, a little bit of brainpower, and some flat space.
There are a wide variety of puzzles available to please even highly-selective people, so you should have no trouble finding some great scenes. Some jigsaw puzzles even come in 3-D designs. I’ve seen a few that, when put together, create real working grandfather clocks.
If budget is an issue, jigsaw puzzles are perfect for you. You can often find jigsaw puzzles at yard sales and flea markets for very little money. Just ask the seller if all of the pieces are in the puzzle.
Doing It Right
When you do put together your jigsaw puzzle, make sure you do it on a large, flat surface like a kitchen table or a folding table. If you’re not going to be able to complete the puzzle in one sitting, think about getting a roll-up puzzle mat that will allow you to safely store the completed portion of the jigsaw puzzle.
In addition to table space and a mat, you should gather a few trays for sorting the puzzle. These could be anything you have around house like an old plastic dishes or even paper plates.
The function of these sorting trays is to cull like pieces together to facilitate the puzzle assembly process. Sort all of the border pieces into one tray. The other trays could be used to sort light and dark colored pieces.
Once all of the pieces are sorted, you should starting putting together the border of the jigsaw puzzle together. Specifically, identify the four corner pieces and work from them to complete the border. Once the entire border is completed, you start working from the outside of the puzzle inward.
Look at the puzzle picture often to help assembling the puzzle. When you’re done with the first puzzle, mat it and hang it and move on to the next. A jigsaw puzzle hobby can be a fun and rewarding activity.
